Lawrence A. Girouard

PAXTON Ė Lawrence A. Girouard, 79, of Lawrence Street, died after a battle with cancer on Friday, September 9, 2011 in Saint Vincentís Hospital, Worcester. He was born in Worcester, the son of Lawrence A. and Beatrice M. (Raymond) Girouard, and lived in Paxton for many years.
He leaves his loving wife, Claire A. (McDermott) of Paxton; three brothers, Peter and his wife Mary Girouard of Hubbardston, Robert and his wife Patricia Girouard of Paxton and Paul Girouard of Connecticut; a sister, Caroline Price of Worcester; four grandchildren, Meghan Hunt of Worcester, Brendan Hunt and his wife Kelly of Brookfield, Adam Jackson and Shane Jackson both of Worcester; two great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Logan; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Girouard is predeceased by his son, Thomas F. Girouard, his two daughters, Nancy Painchard and Kathleen Grenier, and his sister, Sandra Barber.
Mr. Girouard attended Commerce High School where he was a standout athlete in football and was named ďAll CityĒ by the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. He was a plasterer for J.S. Prunier Co., as well as several other plaster companies in Central Massachusetts for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Columba Church in Paxton, the Greendale Retired Menís Club and was a 50-year member of the BAC Local Plastererís Union. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, reading, the Red Sox and the Patriots.
A private Funeral Service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of oneís choice.
