Captain Michael S. Sullivan “Sully”, 76, a resident of West Boylston, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at UMASS University Campus in Worcester after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Sally A. (Johnson) Sullivan. Miles Funeral Home is directing arrangements.
Born on August 11, 1946 in Cuba, NY, Mike was the son of the late Michael B. and Jane E. (Creed) Sullivan and graduated from Hudson High School in 1964. He later graduated from Quinsigamond Community College and attended Clark University.
He retired from the City of Worcester School Department as Head Carpenter. Previously he worked in the construction trades and as an Arizona Park Ranger in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was most proud of his military service in the US Army. Most notably, he served honorably as a Captain during the Vietnam War where he earned many distinguished awards to include: Three Bronze Star Medals to include a “V” Devise for Valor, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal as well as other medals.
Mike was a strong and devoted husband, father, brother, and “Pappy” who will be missed by his loving wife of 55 years and his sons of whom he was most proud: Colonel Michael S. Sullivan, US Army, of Stratham, NH and former Army Ranger, Shawn H. Sullivan of Holden, MA. He also leaves his sisters: Patricia Turner of Porter, Maine and Kathryn Sullivan (Tom) of Amherst, MA and his sister-in-law, Kyle Charbonneau of Okeechobee, Fl. He lovingly leaves his granddaughters: Dr. Mallory S. Sullivan (John), Mikaela A. Sullivan, and Charlotte O. Sullivan.
As per Mike’s request there will be no calling hours. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date.
