STERLING – Virginia H. “Ginger” (Lyman) Shepard, 76, beloved partner of Laura Trepkus, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Beaumont Nursing and Skilled Rehabilitation Center in Northborough. Born and raised in West Brookfield, she was a daughter of Douglas and Helen (Roberts) Lyman.
She was an inspector in manufacturing production and worked at Worcester Knitting for many years. Ginger loved horses and the ocean and she and Laura made many trips as well as many memories over the years traveling to Kennebunkport, ME and Myrtle Beach, SC.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her partner of 43 years, Laura Trepkus of Sterling; her daughter, Brenda Lee Robertson and her companion, Thomas Raschi of Williamsburg, MA; her brother, Dennis Lyman and his wife, Maryann of Florence; her 3 sisters, Laurie Vachula of North Hatfield, Patricia Lyman-Olszewski and her husband, William of North Hampton and Dale Bliss and her husband, Fred of Sunderland; her granddaughter, Leah Robertson of Haydenville; her aunt, Virginia Howe of Barre as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son, Bobby Shepard and a brother, Bruce Lyman.
The family would like to thank the staff at Beaumont Nursing and Skilled Rehabilitation Center in Northborough and Salmon Hospice Care for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Ginger during her illness.
Ginger will be laid to rest in the springtime at Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA, 02452.
