Biography
WEST BOYLSTON – Carol (Howe) Hagan, 82, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – Memorial Campus after an illness.
Her husband of 23 years, James F. Hagan, passed away in 1995. She leaves three children, Cheryl Daggett and her husband Will of West Boylston, Jeffrey Hebb and his wife Kathleen of Sterling and Lisa Kisiel and her husband Kenneth of Woodstock, CT; four step-children, Catherine Hagan of Lexington, VA, James G. Hagan and his wife Betsy of Washington, DC, Susanne Coffey and her husband Jeff of Aubrey, TX and Marie Rivers and her husband Bill of Arlington, VA; eight grandchildren, Ceara, Caitlin, Jessica, Amy, Alexa, Erika, Lindsay and Lauren; four step-grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Will and Alex; three great-grandchildren, Madigan, River and Adyson; nephews and nieces; three step-great-grandchildren Evelyn, Charles and Annalivia. A brother, Alan Howe, predeceased her. She also leaves her dear friend, Rita Higgins.
Carol was born in Worcester, the daughter of Wallace L. and Ester (Frazer) Howe and had lived most of her life in West Boylston. She was a graduate of Major Edwards High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Colby Sawyer College. Carol was a medical technologist and worked many years at Pathology Associates in Worcester. She was a volunteer at the Beaman Memorial Public Library. She enjoyed reading, traveling and woodworking, but loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Sunday, December 23, from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A private committal service will be held at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beaman Memorial Public Library, 8 Newton Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
