WORCESTER -- Elizabeth (Betty) Maude Hogan passed away peacefully on April 17, 2022, in Worcester, MA. Born in Brookline, MA, Betty was raised with her two sisters, Mary and Katherine. She attended St. Mary of the Assumption school in Brookline, where she was one of the finest singers in the school choir. She met Albert Hogan in the 6th grade, and they were married 12 years later. Betty and Al raised a family of five children, born over a span of 16 years. Al was frequently transferred during his career as a Special Agent in the FBI, and the family lived in a variety of places throughout the country. In every place, Betty was active in her children’s schools, the Catholic Church, and local charities. After Al passed away, Betty moved to Worcester, MA where she made many new friends and remained active in the Church and local charities. She was making blankets for the homeless until the last few months of her life. Betty was a wonder and an inspiration. She loved dancing and dogs and Notre Dame and the Boston Pops. She had a solemn faith and a delightful sense of humor. She was generous to those in need, enchanting to friends, and loving to her family. She will be deeply missed. Betty was predeceased by her husband Albert Hogan in 1988, her son John (Buzz) Hogan in 2014, and her cherished companion of 18 years, Frank Candrea, in 2010. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) Johnston and son-in-law, Warren, daughter AnneMarie (Nancy) Perna and son-in-law Al, daughter Jane Crooks and son-in-law William, son David Hogan and daughter-in-law Ismini, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, April 29, at Our Lady of the Angel’s Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester. Interment will take place privately at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich, CT. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St. Anthony Shrine, 100 Arch St., Boston, MA 02110.
