STERLING/CLINTON – James Porciello, Sr., 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at St. Mary Health Care Center in Worcester. Born and raised in Clinton, Jim was the son of Italian immigrants, Jerry, and Catherine (Amato) Porciello and lived over 20 years in Sterling before moving to his final residence in Holden for the past 7 years. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Porciello) Kusumah-Atmadja of Holden, his three sons, James Porciello, Jr. and his wife Frieda of Cambridge, NY, John Porciello and his wife, Paula of Clinton and Thomas Porciello and his wife, Suzanne of Sterling; three step-sons, Mark Paskell and his wife, Kim of Sterling, David Paskell and his wife Belinda of Texas, and Jeffrey L. Yalian and his wife, Robin of Leominster; stepdaughter, Marilee R. Yalian and her companion, Brian Fenton of Worcester; 9 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His first wife of 31 years, Florence C. (Fanning) Porciello died in 1982. His second wife of 25 years, Margaret (Clark) Porciello died in 2014. He was also predeceased by his sister, Margaret (Porciello) Tackitt, stepdaughter, Cynthia Paskell, and stepson, Bruce Paskell. Throughout his lifetime, Jim worked in construction and was employed by Van Brode Company, Standard Fin Pipe and Nypro Inc., all in Clinton, retiring at the age of 64. If not at work, Jim could be found mowing his lawn, trimming bushes, meticulously working in his garden, or doing updates on his house. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family at home watching action movies, comedies, and westerns. He loved listening to all sorts of music. Jim particularly enjoyed following and listening to his grandson, Gregg’s bands, going to his shows and dancing along until closing hours. Jim made friends everywhere he went, whether it be with the morning coffee gang at Dunkin Donuts in Clinton, or more recently, the Rutland Senior Center where he was a regular fixture at Wii Bowling with his new buddies. He was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church in Sterling and a former member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Clinton, all of where he loved singing along during Mass.. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jim’s family from 3 to 5 pm on Sunday, January 16, at Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, January 18, at St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling, MA 01564, or the Holden Association of Firefighters P.O. Box 190, Holden.
