After graduating from South High School, she went on to further her education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Pembroke College in Brown University. While attending Pembroke College, she met her future husband, Ed on a blind date. That evening they had their first dance at the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, and their first dance as husband and wife on July 23, 1949. They relocated to Paxton in 1965, where they lived for 54 years while raising their family. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church along with her husband. She worked as a teachers aide at Paxton Center School and as an assistant librarian at Richards Memorial Library for many years. She was an avid quilter, sharing her creations among her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2019, they moved to the Briarwood community where they made many friends. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her husband of 73 years, Edward; her daughter, Sandra Clarke of Brookfield; her three sons, David Clarke and his wife, Kathy of Holden, Allan Clarke and his wife, Ann of Appleton, WI and Jeffrey Clarke and his fiancee, Deb Campouris of Scottsdale, AZ; her sister, Ruth Luke of Manchester, CT; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service honoring her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Briarwood Assistance Fund, 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester , MA 01606 or Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury St., Holden, MA 01520.
