WORCESTER – Dorothy A. (Bannister) McNamara, 82, of Holden Street, died Sunday, June 15, 2008, in Knollwood Nursing Home after an illness.
Her husband of 47 years, James M. McNamara died in 1992. She leaves a son, James M. McNamara and his wife Catherine of Lake Wales Florida; two daughters, Jane M. Peacock of Holden and Elaine F. O'Donoghue of Webster; six grandchildren, Maryanne Laske, Michael McNamara, Michael Peacock, Erin Hughes, Patrice West and Sarah O'Donoghue; and eight great-grandchildren, Deanna, Tyler, Olivia, Autumn, Eva, Connor, Hannah, and Cole. She was predeceased by a son, Daniel J. McNamara and a son-in-law, Gary M. Peacock. Dorothy was born in Worcester, daughter of John H. and Anna G. (Shea) Bannister.
Dorothy was a waitress for many years at several area restaurants. She will always be remembered for her creativity, thoughtfulness, selflessness and her great sense of humor. She was a devoted wife and mother. The family would like to thank the Worcester Summit Elder Care and the Knollwood Nursing Home for their compassionate care they provided to their mother.
Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour at 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 12 noon on Thursday, June 19th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Memorial donations may be made to Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
