WEST BOYLSTON – Michael A. Cates, 55, of Laurel Street, died peacefully in his home on Friday, January 14, 2011.
Michael was born and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the son of James W. and Jo-Ann (Wilson) Cates, Sr. and lived in Hubbardston before moving to West Boylston in 2006. He worked in the healthcare field for 27 years most recently in hospice for UMass Memorial Home Health & Hospice. Previously he worked at Beaumont Rehabilitation in Westborough for several years and owned and operated an Agency of Avis Rent A Car in Bedford from 1998-2005. He was a member of Heritage Bible Chapel.
He leaves his wife of 26 years, Jody L. (Mathieu) Cates; two sons, Mathieu A. Cates and his wife Allison of Lynchburg, VA and Aaron M. Cates of TN; three daughters, Elizabeth K., Jennifer M. and Laura Ann Cates, all of Princeton; three brothers, James W. Cates, Jr. and William Daniel Cates, both of Allons, TN and Christopher T. Cates of San Clemente, CA; and several nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 17th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral service and celebration of his life will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18th, in the Heritage Bible Chapel, 182 Brooks Station Road, Princeton. In lieu of flowers, Michael's family suggests donations may be made to the Heritage Bible Chapel, P.O. Box 1096, Princeton, MA 01541; or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
