WORCESTER/HOLDEN – Adrienne G. (Lachapelle) Kohlstrom, a resident of Christopher Heights in Worcester and formerly of Holden, died on Friday April 5, 2013 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester. She had celebrated her 85th birthday this past February.
Mrs. Kohlstrom was born in Albany, New York, in late February of 1928. She grew up in Millbury and graduated from Millbury High School. She attended the College of New Rochelle in New York, La Valle University in Quebec, Boston University as well as Clark University in Worcester. Adrienne later used her passion for education as an English Teacher at Millbury High School for several years, where she touched the lives of countless students.
She was a life member of the DAV Ladies Auxillary, Unit 4 in Worcester as well as the VFW Ladies Auxillary, Chapter 609 in West Boylston. Adrienne was a member of Holden Chapel where she leaves many dear friends and will be sadly missed. As a resident of the Christopher Heights community in Worcester Adrienne’s quick wit and abundant joy earned her many friends. While at Christopher Heights she enjoyed many of the activities and events that are offered to residents and was always joyfully encouraging her fellow residents to participate with her.
Adrienne lost her loving husband, Albert K. Kohlstrom in 1995. She is survived by her sister, Ida Mark of Reading, Connecticut; her goddaughter, Beth Keenan and her husband Lee of Shrewsbury; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Miles Funeral Home, Holden. Following the calling hour a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
