HOLDEN – Leroy A. Lindquist, 85, of 41 Newell Road, died at home on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, after an illness.
His wife of 62 years, Lydia M. (Gabrielli) died in July of 2006. He leaves his son, Albert L. Lindquist and his wife Doris of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren, Marc A. Lindquist of Upton, and Mora L. Cannon of San Diego, CA; three great-grandchildren, Jordan E. and Andrew M. Lindquist and Natalie E. Cannon. His daughter, Linda L. Lindquist, died in 1970. He was born in Holden, son of Albert N. and Elsie L. (Allard) Lindquist, and lived in Holden his entire life. He was a graduate of Holden High School, class of 1940.
Mr. Lindquist was a Machinist Mate Third Class, Coast Guard veteran of World War II, serving aboard the USS Burlington in the Pacific theatre where he received a bronze star. He was a machinist for 42 years for Norton Company, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a wonderful and avid gardener. During the last few years, he studied his Swedish family genealogy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 12th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, followed by a service of family remembrance at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private in Grove Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wachusett Greenways, P.O.
