Ann J. Harrington

Mar 10, 1926 — Jul 7, 2026

HOLDEN - Ann J. (Oliver) Harrington passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026 with loved ones by her side. Ann was born on March 10, 1926 to Elmer and Irene Oliver of Holden. She lived in Holden until she moved to Notre Dame du Lac Assisted Living in 2019.

A graduate of the former Holden High School, Ann trained as an x-ray technician at the former St. Vincent's School of Radiology in Worcester. She worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London, CT and then the former Holden Hospital for several years.

Ann married her best friend and love of her life, Daniel Harrington, on August 6, 1949 and they were married for 59 years before Dan passed away in 2008. Together, Dan and Ann raised three children, traveled to many countries, and made memories with family and friends in Holden and Ogunquit, Maine, their favorite vacation spot. Ann enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, walking, and playing tennis. She cared deeply for her loved ones and had a special gift for forming meaningful connections with people, many of whom quickly became friends.

Ann was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jefferson. She spent many years as a dedicated volunteer at St. Mary's, Abby's House, Holden Hospital, and Holden Senior Center, and was involved in fundraising for the Gale Free Library addition. Ann donated over 100 pints of blood to the American Red Cross over 40 years. On her 100th birthday, she received a Key to the City of Worcester at a ceremony at Notre Dame du Lac from Mayor Joseph Petty.

Ann leaves her daughters, Susan DiNoia (Len), Mary Ann McGrain (Ben), and daughter-in-law Catherine Harrington; seven grandchildren, Amy Harrington, Jill Harrington, Todd McGrain (Nicole), Nicole Garvey (Rob), Andrew DiNoia, Deidre Donahue (Adam), and John Donahue (Chelsea); eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ann was predeceased by her husband Daniel Harrington Jr., son Daniel Harrington III, brothers, John, William and James Oliver, and grandson, Peter DiNoia.
