Ann M. Patton

Ann Patton, 86, of Cape Elizabeth passed peacefully in her sleep on December 30th, 2025. Currently a resident at Life Care Centers of Auburn, MA, she lived the majority of her life in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert Patton Jr in 2021 and is survived by her son Robert Patton III and daughter-in-law Susan Dyer of Marlborough, MA, her daughter Jennifer Robbins and son-in-law Nathan Robbins of Holden, MA and her two beloved grandsons, Ethan and Eli Robbins.

A 1961 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor’s degree in education, Annie married Bob in 1962 following a ten-year courtship that began in 7th grade at dancing school. Refusing to be a “golf widow”, Annie began playing the game early and was renowned for her short game. She enjoyed many hours on the links with her friends and family and won several club championships. Her greatest golf coup was meeting Jim Nantz at a fundraising tournament and procuring a cassette tape of the “Theme from the Masters” for her daughter’s wedding dance.

Annie left her mark on many people and organizations. She spent many years as the church secretary at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, helped many Cape High students find their way through her Career Ed position, served as a claim’s adjuster at BCBS of Maine, was an avid member of the Cape Elizabeth Garden Club and volunteered at the Portland Head Light in her golden years. Her creativity knew no bounds. She crafted poems, knit Christmas stockings, wove baskets, painted watercolors, cooked up a storm in the kitchen and left us with many wonderful scrapbooks.

Her most distinguished role was “The General”, as her loving and devoted husband referred to her. She led her family and ran the household with intelligence, skill and most especially love. Annie supported her children and husband with her whole heart and soul; paying the bills, going to sports events, helping with homework, working full time, cooking, baking, and teaching her children the importance of integrity and responsibility.

A celebration of Ann & Bob’s lives is planned for the summer on the golf course. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to alz.org to further research in Alzheimer’s and dementia. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. www.milesfuneralhome.com
