WORCESTER - Annette (Burack) Order of Worcester passed away at the age of 93 at the Rose Monahan Hospice on October 5, 2026 after a brief illness. She was born on December 25, 1932 to Max and Dora (Deitch) Burack in Hartford, Connecticut and moved at a young age with her family to the Grafton Hill neighborhood of Worcester, where her father operated a small grocery store. Annette was a Horace Mann Scholar at Commerce High School in Worcester and worked as a bookkeeper for several years after graduation.

Annette met the love of her life, Hyman B. Order, on a blind date, and they married nine months later on September 6, 1953. They enjoyed a loving marriage for 59 years until Hy died in 2012.

After their wedding, Annette stepped aside from bookkeeping to raise a family but returned to work as the bookkeeper for Arkus Pharmacy on Water Street when Hy bought the store. Years later, she handled assorted tasks, including proofreading, for Woodbury & Company and then Checkerboard Limited.

Annette was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Hy; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Edna Burack and Louis and Mona Burack; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Louis and Bella Order, Rose Order, Eva and Irving Linda, Esther and Joe Greenfield, Ellen and Joe Davis, and Philip Order; and her granddaughter, Rachel Ann Order.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Michele Order Litant and Bill Litant of Boxborough, Massachusetts, Richard and Denise Order of Avon, Connecticut, and Judy and Paul Fortin of Leicester, Massachusetts; her grandchildren and their spouses, Josiah Litant and Taliesin Nyala, Tory Fortin, Micah Litant, Sara and Robert Mehr, Jonathan Order, Emma Jones, and Daniel Order; and by her great-grandchildren, Nico, Scout, and Elijah. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ilene Order, and many nephews and nieces.

Annette loved Broadway musicals, dance, and ice-skating performances and tolerated watching Boston sports teams with Hy. She will be remembered particularly for double-underlying multiple key words in cards and newspaper articles she sent to family members, her banana bread recipe, and calling everyone in the family twice a year to remind them to switch their clocks ahead or back for daylight saving times.

A private funeral will be held for the immediate family. Memories of Annette may be shared at on the guest book here.  Arrangements are in the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.

Annette wishes that any donations in her memory be made to Rachel’s Table in Worcester (www.rachelstable.org) or a charity of one’s choice.
