RUTLAND – Arthur D. McNutt, Jr., 66, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, February 13, 2022, after a lengthy courageous battle with MSA. Born and raised in Holden, Art was the son of the late Arthur D. and Edythe (Peterson) McNutt and lived in Rutland for many years with his wife and children.
He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 38 years, Diane E. (Cobb) McNutt; their four children, Kimberly Madero and her husband, Juan Pablo of Orlando, Florida, Kelley McNutt of Falls Church, Virginia, David and Daniel McNutt, both of Rutland; a brother, Bradley McNutt of Worcester; a sister, Kathy Potvin and her husband, Jim of Rutland; a granddaughter, Christina Madero; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Art graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1973 where he played football and ran track, and later attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He worked most recently as a service engineer for IBM and was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Church in Rutland.
Art was a loving husband and devoted father who enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He was a talented musician, loved to play guitar and compose/record his own music. Art liked hiking, skiing and the beach, and watching Patriots games with his family.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, tenacity, passion for life and his kind and compassionate nature.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Art’s family from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, February 18th, at St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main St., Rutland. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 19th at the church. Burial will take place privately in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition, Inc. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
