STERLING – Richard A. Wiberg, 69, of Sterling, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 in Holy Trinity Nursing Home, Worcester, after an illness.
He leaves his wife, Karen A. (Nelson) Wiberg; a son, R. Scott Wiberg and his wife Ann and their children Joshua and Brendan of Casa Grande, Arizona; a daughter, Donna L. Wahlstrom and her husband Peter and their children Erik and Kara of Millbury; four brothers, Sven, Hugh and David Wiberg all of Wilmington and Peter Wiberg of South Portland, Maine; two sisters, Mary Wiberg of State College, PA and Margaret Reid of Vernon, CT; a sister-in-law, Elsie Wiberg of Rochester, NY; and Karen’s children, Mark Scanlon and his wife Michelle and their children Cole, Brady and Luke, Brian Scanlon and his wife Marcia and their children Colin, Casey and Camryn, and Laurie Perron and her husband Heath and their son Evan; many nephews and nieces and his loving extended family. A brother, John Wiberg, predeceased him. He was born in Waterbury, CT, son of Hugo and Mary (Loeffler) Wiberg, and lived in Millbury and Worcester before moving to Sterling 12 years ago.
Mr. Wiberg was a graduate of University of Massachusetts Amherst and worked for the City of Worcester Department of Pubic Health for 35 years, retiring four years ago. He was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church and a former member of the Sterling Board of Health. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 12th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral for Mr. Wiberg will be held on Saturday, from the funeral home with a funeral service at 11 a.m. in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will be private.
