Barbara J. Henry

WEST BOYLSTON – Barbara J. (Gormley) Henry, 88, beloved wife of the late John C. Henry, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. Born and raised in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Louise (Fairbanks) Gormley.

After graduating from Bay View in Providence, RI, she met her future husband, John C. Henry when they both worked at the A&P supermarket. They settled in Concord, MA, where together they raised their six children. In her younger years, Barbara could often be found sailing or playing a round of golf with John. Each year they looked forward to spending time in North Hutchinson Island, FL where they spent time with their family. When she wasn’t busy cheering on her favorite sports team, the Boston Celtics, she loved traveling, especially with her sisters and her dear friend Sharon. Her favorite travel destinations were Ireland and cruising the Caribbean.

She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children including Maureen Henry of Holden, Marilou Weinschenk and her husband, Paul of Rutland, Timothy Henry and his wife, Karen of Richmond, VA, Peter Henry and his wife, Kathleen of Sutton and John Henry and his wife, Stephanie of Middletown, RI; her sisters, Elizabeth Fogarty of Warwick, RI, Mary MacVicar and her husband, Robert of Westerly, RI and Helen McVerry and her husband, Patrick of West Hartford, CT; her grandchildren, Amelia, Madison, Emma, Jack, Karlie and Abigail, great-grandchildren Meredith and Cassidy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband of 47 years, John C. Henry, she was predeceased by her son, Michael Henry and two brothers, Francis and Edward Gormley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 16 at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
