Barbara L. (Luey) Harvey

HOLDEN/LYNCHBURG, VA – Barbara L. (Luey) Harvey, 88, formerly of Holden, died peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Heritage Green Assisted Living Community in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Mrs. Harvey was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 67 years, Donald W. Harvey. She is survived by her daughter Linda Cheverton and husband David of Madison Heights, VA; a son, Robert Harvey and wife Diane of Holden; four grandchildren, Michael Harvey and wife Nancy, Kristina Markiewicz and husband Joseph, Timothy Prescott and wife Lisa and Carin Prescott; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Luey and her sister, Marcia Hakala.

She was born in Holden on April 5, 1923, the daughter of the late Donald and Christine (Stoddard) Luey. She was a lifelong Holden resident, moving to Virginia in 2008. Mrs. Harvey drove a school bus for Holden public schools for many years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 27th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Grove Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Holden Memorial Fund, 1180 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
