WORCESTER – Barry J. Dworman, age 85, died peacefully with his loving and devoted family by his side. Born in Worcester, Barry was the son of Nathan and Ida (Spear) Dworman. Barry was married to Bernice (Shapiro) Dworman for 61 years, always together and always sharing respect, love, caring, warmth and affection.
After graduating Classical High School, Barry attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute undergraduate and graduate schools, earning two Master’s degrees, in Civil Engineering and Mathematics. His early career as an engineer was at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stamford, CT, a manufacturer of helicopters used in the Vietnam War. He resumed his career moving back to Massachusetts, working with high tech companies in the capacity of Computer Software Sales Engineer Management.
However, Math was his passion, so after working his day job he taught college Algebra and Statistics at Framingham State University. He also volunteered, tutoring children of family, friends and neighbors in all math levels.
Their favorite times together were being with their children and grandchildren. They also enjoyed traveling to European countries, Israel and Tunisia and cruising Caribbean Islands. When Barry retired, he was involved in Real Estate, something he grew up with, as his father and uncle built the multilevel homes in the Vernon Hill Park area.
Barry will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife, Bernice (Shapiro) Dworman of Worcester; his daughter, Wendy Friedman (Michael) of Marlboro, New Jersey and son Scott Dworman (Dr. Nancy Berley) of Holden; his beloved grandchildren, Joshua Friedman, Kayla Friedman, Daniel Dworman, Lexi Dworman, and Talia Dworman; his beloved sister Annette Posner of Needham and brother-in-law Gary Shapiro of Laguna Woods, California, nephews and nieces and many dear friends.
