WORCESTER – Bertha P. Baronowski, 102, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025.
She was born on December 19, 1922, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to the late Martin and Anna (Waitkus) Thomas. Bertha graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and later married the love of her life, Walter Baronowski. As a proud military wife, Bertha traveled and supported Walter throughout his service. Together, they grew their family with the birth of their son, Gary.
Bertha had a vibrant and active spirit. She was a longtime member of the Red Hat Society, the Providence Ladies Guild, the Lithuanian Club, and various groups at St. Christopher’s Church. She was known for her joyful demeanor, love for Hawaiian music, and unwavering positivity.
Professionally, Bertha worked as an executive secretary at Riley Stoker in Worcester.
She is survived by her beloved son, Gary Baronowski of Ventura, CA; her brother, Daniel Thomas of Connecticut; her nieces, Donna DeChiaro and Patricia Starczewski; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Bertha was predeceased by her siblings: Martin Thomas, Leo Thomas, Vincent Thomas, Edward Thomas, Lillian Quinn, and Helen Lindstrom Roscillo.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m.
Burial will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Sterling Village and to Iolanda Browning for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Bertha.
