North Brookfield MA/Vero Beach FL – Beverly A. (Rockwood) Wingate, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, with her loving family by her side, on August 5, 2026.
Born on January 30, 1941, Beverly was the daughter of the late Laurence and Madeline (Largess) Rockwood. She was raised in North Brookfield and remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life. In later years, Beverly cherished spending her winters in Vero Beach, Florida, where she also made many happy memories.
Beverly was predeceased by her parents; her first husband and the father of her children, George Bitsounis; her brother, Lawrence Rockwood, and his wife, JoAnne, of North Brookfield; her sister, Louise Moore, and her husband, George, of North Brookfield; and her son-in-law, Jeffrey Young.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Lynn Wingate; her daughters, Ann Whitney and her husband, Frank, of Barre, Massachusetts, Barbara Young of Oakham, and Kristine Wallace and her husband, Jason, of North Brookfield. She also leaves behind her former son in law, Michael Degnan. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jenn, Meg, Kelley, Matt, Erin, Evan, and Colin, and was blessed with great-grandchildren Taniel, Eric, Nick, Brielle, Dom, Hadley, Charlie, Jack, and Mason, all of whom brought her tremendous joy.
Beverly was an avid golfer who truly loved the game. She managed Quail Hollow Country Club in Oakham for many years, where she formed countless friendships and became a familiar face to members and staff alike. Earlier in her career, she and her first husband, George, spent many years in the restaurant industry, proudly owning and operating the Colonial Steakhouse.
Above all else, Beverly treasured her family. Nothing made her happier than gathering with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on through her family for generations to come.
At Beverly's family's request, a private committal service will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends are warmly invited to gather to pay their respects, share memories, and celebrate Beverly's life at her daughter Kristine's home in North Brookfield, August 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
