Biography
HOLDEN - Blanche L. ( Ring) Gregory, a longtime resident of Holden, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home after an illness. Born in Arlington in 1927, Blanche was the daughter of Frederick J. and Marion E. (Watts) Ring. She spent her youth in Brookline and later attended Boston University. She was the devoted wife of Dr. Eric Gregory — her best friend and life partner — a globally recognized scientist in his field of superconducting materials, who pre-deceased her in August, 2016. Blanche and Eric spent 60 golden years together traveling the world, a shared passion. Blanche was especially fond of visiting Prince Edward Island, the homeland of her Scotch-Irish ancestors. She was a skilled pianist and artist and had an appreciation for fine culture – notably art, literature, and classical music. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Gregory of Campbellsville, KY, and her grandchildren, Michael Rice of Campbellsville, KY and Cara Brower of Los Angeles, CA. Blanche Gregory’s family will honor her life privately. Donations may be made in her honor to the National Audubon Society, P O Box 97194, Washington, DC 20090-7194 or online at
