Rutland - Brian D. Mahoney, 88, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was the faithful husband of the late Barbara A. (Lomartire) Mahoney, who passed away in 2021 and with whom he built a beautiful life over 46 years of marriage.
A Worcester native, Brian was the son of the late Daniel and Mary (McGrail) Mahoney. After graduating from Commerce High School and Becker College, Brian dedicated the better part of 50 years of his life to his work as a respected CPA, eventually retiring from Schonbeck & Vostok in 2006. From 1955 to 1963, he proudly served his country in the National Guard.
Characterized by his faith and strength, Brian was a quiet anchor for his family. He let his actions speak for his heart, showing up fully for the people and passions he loved. An avid sports enthusiast, he loved supporting the Patriots, the Celtics, and Holy Cross basketball. His summers were spent between Hampton Beach and lounging by his pool surrounded by laughter and loved ones. Above all else, Brian lived for his family, tracking every milestone and celebrating every achievement of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving children, Erin Tanner and her husband Jack of Rutland, and Sean Mahoney and his fiancee Anne Bouchard of Boylston; his three adored grandchildren, Sean, Jenna, and Eleanore; his precious great-granddaughter, Bentley; and his beloved sister, Ann Mahoney and her husband Robert Price.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, June 24th, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston, followed by burial at St. John's Cemetery in Worcester.
