WORCESTER – Kenneth Carlson, 85, of 30 Marconi Road, died peacefully in his home on Sunday, November 16, 2008 surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Edith L. (Olson) Carlson; two sons, Robert K. Carlson and his wife Anita of Rutland and Richard E. Carlson of Holden; a daughter, Diane B. Cooper and her husband Roland of North Adams; a brother, Torsten Carlson of Worcester; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Hoganas, Sweden, the son of Hugo and Dagmar (Hultberg) Carlson and lived 80 years in Worcester.
Mr. Carlson graduated from Commerce High School and owned and operated Ajax Tree Co. in Worcester for 30 years. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and served with the 483rd Bombardment Group in the European Theatre. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worcester and a Past President of the Nimrod Club in Holden. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, vacationing at Moosehead Lake in Maine and taking Sean to the casino
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte.122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Massachusetts Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
