STERLING - Carol Ann Hoffman, 81, passed away on September 1, 2026. She is the loving wife of Allen H. Hoffman, with whom she has shared the past 58 years of marriage.

Born to Myra (Mallett) and Gordon E. Snyder on September 17, 1944. She was educated in Worcester Schools and graduated from South High School. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from Worcester State University in 1966 and began a long career in teaching. She taught for public schools at New Ludlow Street School in Worcester, Princeton MA, and Adams County Colorado. Most notably, she co-founded the Village Green Preschool in Sterling where she taught for 8 years. As a life long learner, she later returned to Worcester State to obtain her Masters, graduating in 1995. Throughout the years she was a deacon at First Church in Sterling, active as a Girl Scout Leader, and a prominent volunteer at the Sterling Senior Center, and proudly started the Sterling Strummers Ukelele Group, growing to over 60 members. She enjoyed needle arts, quilting, crafts, and spoiling her three grandchildren.

Along with her husband Allen, Carol Ann leaves behind her daughters, Rebecca Bach and her husband Chris of Scarsdale, NY and Kimberly Hoffman of Cambridge & Ayer, MA; her beloved grandchildren, Douglas, Kyle, and Courtney; Carol’s sister and brother, Marilyn Wimmergeran, and Gordon Snyder and his wife Cynthia; and her nieces and nephews Derek White, Jason Snyder, Megan Cappucci (Snyder), and Gina Snyder.

She is predeceased by her brother Arthur Everette Snyder.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 9th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Her funeral will be the following day, Thursday, September 10th at 11:00 AM at First Church in Sterling, 6 Meetinghouse Hill Road in Sterling. Kindly meet at the church. A reception will follow.

In honor of Carol’s life, she would want you to plant a daisy, read a book to a child, help someone in need, build a snowman, swing in a hammock, or hug someone you love.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Sterling Senior Center, P.O. Box 243, Sterling , MA 01564, Conant Free Public Library, 4 Meetinghouse Hill Rd, Sterling, MA 01564, First Church in Sterling, 6 Meetinghouse Hill Rd, Sterling, or the Sterling Garden Club, P.O. Box 1234, Sterling, MA 01564.
