WORCESTER – Carol Wilcox Rice, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving caretakers at The Oasis at Dodge Park after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She is finally able to rest peacefully. She was the daughter of the late Edson and Anna (Wilcox) Rice.
Carol served her community and church for most of her life. She was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church in Worcester, MA where she spent much of her life serving them as a Sunday School teacher, a mentor, the treasurer for many years, and helped other members of the church in every aspect she could. She was a Certified CPA and owned her own firm in Worcester for over 50 years, where she developed lifelong clients and dear friends.
She loved the Wilcox family Home in Granby, CT where the family gathered every summer throughout their childhood. The land is now cared for by the Salmon Brook Society and is a historical site “The Wilcox House & Barn Museum”. The family continues to be a very active part of and was something she was incredibly proud of.
She was an avid sports fan, she especially loved her Red Sox and enjoyed later in life watching the Woosox play right in her hometown! She had a great love for animals, especially her many dogs over the years. She was a dedicated and loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her brother, Calvin Wilcox Rice and his wife, Priscilla; her niece, Jessica Padilla and her husband, Sheldon; great-nephew, Devlin Padilla all of Littleton, CO; and cousins, Bruce Smith and his wife, Donna, Sandy Fort, Jan Hastings and Theresa Burke.
