Rutland – Carolyn S. Childs, 75, died peacefully at Sterling Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, August 29, 2024. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona and raised in Paxton, the daughter of the late Louis and Yvette (Andrews) Childs and graduated from Wachusett High School with the class of 1967.
From a young age Carolyn had a longing to help others which inspired her to pursue a career in healthcare. She went on to work as a nurse’ aide at several area healthcare facilities including the former Holden Hospital, Rutland Heights Hospital and most recently, Briarwood Assisted Living in Worcester. Carolyn was a gifted craftswoman and especially enjoyed crocheting and jewelry making. Above all she loved spending time with her family and was overjoyed to be a great grandmother.
Carolyn will be lovingly missed and remembered by her daughters, Janice Duffy of Webster, Lynn Kihm of Worcester and Christina Fish of Holden; her brother, Gerald Childs and his wife, Linda of West Boylston; her grandchildren, , Heather Costello, Brittany Grey and her husband, Madison, Kyle Furtado, Joshua Furtado, Jessica Furtado and Matthew Fish; her great grandchildren, Ryan and Alexis as well as her best friend, Judy Doherty.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service honoring and celebrating Carolyn’s life at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street, Holden. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
