EAST BROOKFIELD

Carolyn M. Leonard

Carolyn M. Leonard, 65 of East Brookfield and formerly Holden, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home November 3, 2026. A fighter until the very end, cancer couldn’t claim her as an easy victim.

Carolyn, the eleventh of fourteen children, was born in Worcester. She was the daughter of the late Barbara A. (Gregory) Landry and Milton R. Landry, Sr. Following her graduation from Shrewsbury High School in 1980, she attended Worcester State College. Always on the hunt for fun and joy, she wore many hats in her lifetime. From bus driver, to speech assistant, to Special Education teacher, and her most important roles, wife and mother, life around her was never dull.

Carolyn loved traveling with her family everywhere, especially to the beach. Nothing would make her happier than a fish on the line, a belly full of free clams, the warm sun on her face, and a handful of winning CashWords surrounded by good company. She loved hunting for a good deal, although free was better. Constantly active, she enjoyed being outside. Whether she was walking, biking, kayaking, skiing, hiking, swimming, or camping, she cherished the fresh air and freedom of adventure. When cold weather kept her indoors, she liked painting, making crafts and tapping into her creative outlet. Above all else, the most treasured experience for Carolyn was being with her family.

Carolyn will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Marty Leonard; her daughters, Stephanie Leonard; Katelyn Patrone and her husband Jeff Patrone; her grandsons, Benjamin and Joshua Patrone; her brothers, Charles Landry; Joseph Landry; Paul Landry and his wife, Ellen; Peter Landry, David Landry and his wife, Nancy; Stephen Landry and his wife, Michele; Christopher Landry and his wife, Denise; her sisters, Lynn Couture; Susan Burns and her husband, Walter; Barbara Shea; Mary Landry and her wife, Betty Brigham; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Landry. Carolyn is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her father, Milton R. Landry, Sr.; her mother, Barbara Landry; her brothers, Richard M. Landry and Milton Landry Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Paul H. Couture Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Carolyn’s family on Friday, November 20, 2026 from 5:00-7:00PM in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to Care Central VNA & Hospice, Inc. at https://carecentralvnahospice.org/donate/ .

A note from Carolyn:

Fighting the weather doesn’t change the weather. You need to prepare during the storm and ask God to keep you calm. What happened? The weather got so bad and strong that it was time to meet my friends and family in a calmer place.

The things I loved about living, fresh air, campfires, good food, laughing as hard as my body would allow about life, and ocean waves. Enjoy this earth, it’s a short ride. Give a hand to others in need if you have that giving spirit. It doesn't always have to be money; it could be in many other ways. My family is my pride and joy. There is a special peace I felt with them.
