HOLDEN – Charles Chappell, Jr., 83, of 67 Winter Hill Road, died Monday, February 14, 2005, in Holy Trinity Orthodox Nursing Home, Worcester, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Lillian E. (Kenney) Chappell; his son, Steven A. Chappell of Palm Bay, Florida; a brother, Dean Chappell of Des Moines, Iowa; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Everett and Lester Chappell, predeceased him. He was born in Chariton, Iowa, son of Charles V. and Gladys E. (Ashby) Chappell, graduated Derby High School in Derby, Iowa and has lived in Holden for 60 years. He was a Coast Guard Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Chappell as a tool and die maker for Barry-Wright in Worcester for over 40 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed woodcarving at the Holden Senior Center.
The funeral service for Mr. Chappell will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1325 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
