Biography
ATHOL - Charles Harold Moskovitz, age 95, originally from Athol and now from Ashburn, Virginia, died March 19, 2017, after a short illness.
He was born December 10, 1921, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of the late Israel and Dora Moskovitz. He was the elder of two children. He attended Athol schools and then Boston University. He left college in 1942 and entered the US Army Air Force serving as an aircraft armaments maintenance supervisor, stationed in Denver, Colorado through 1945.
He returned to Athol following the war and entered the family business, Moskovitz’s Women’s Shop. He assumed management of the Athol store and later expanded the operations to include a second store in Gardner, MA. He was very active in local organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Lions and Rotary clubs, and served as president of Temple Israel.
His wife of 53 years, Edith Mary (Megans) Moskovitz, died in 2001. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kathie Davis Moskovitz of Norwalk, Connecticut; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and John Geiger of Sterling, Virginia; grandchildren, Jessie Moskovitz, Keri Drengler, Jay, Doug, and Jeff Geiger; two great grandchildren and sister, Shirley Stobin of Los Angeles.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 AM ON FRIDAY, MARCH 24TH AT BETH ISRAEL SYNAGOGE, 15 JAMES BURY DRIVE, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be at Worcester Hebrew Cemetery, Auburn.
Immediately following the interment, Memorial Observance will be held through Friday afternoon at the Salisbury West Clubhouse, 770 Salisbury Street, Worcester.
