WEST BOYLSTON - Chester J. Kisiel, 88, formerly of Maplewood Avenue, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012, in the Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Worcester in 1924 where he was also raised, he was the son of Joseph M. and Adela (Batura) Kisiel.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre stationed in Burma, India. He worked for C&S Grocers after WWII and Wyman Gordon Co. in North Grafton, retiring as an inspector in 1987 after 35 years.
Chester enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing and gardening, which he continued at Oakdale. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, the former Goodwill Club, the VFW and the American Legion.
He was married to Josephine A. (Bacchiocchi) Kisiel for 20 years before she died unexpectedly in 1971. He remarried in 1974 to Barbara A. (Latuga) Kisiel who died in 2004. He leaves his two sons and their wives, Brian D. Kisiel and Donna Oppici-Kisiel of Stratham, NH and Kenneth P. and Lisa Kisiel of Woodstock, CT; his grandchildren, Lindsay, Peter, Lauren, Jeffrey and Robert; a step-daughter, Brenda A. Taylor of Sturbridge and her two sons, Keith and Bryan; several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his four brothers, William, Henry, Edmund, and Matthew Kisiel.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling, following in procession to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. (Rte. 12), West Boylston, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston.
