Christian W. de Marcken, 97, beloved husband of the late Jeanne G. de Marcken, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Oasis at Dodge Park-Worcester. Born and raised in Uccle, Belgium, he was the son of the late Gustave and Alix de Marcken.
Shortly after high school graduation, he enlisted in the military and proudly served his country in the United States Army where he received special honors from Major General Cornelius Ryan.
Upon his return, Christian earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts School of Engineering. He went on to enjoy a long career with several local companies including Sprague Electric, George J. Meyer Manufacturing Company and the Norton Company. During that time, he held numerous positions including Mechanical Engineer, Methods Engineer, Assistant Plant Engineer, Quality Control Manager and Superintendent.
Christian could often be found volunteering his time with numerous organizations. He was a Scout Leader and a Scout Master for the Boys Scouts of America, BSA Troop 180 in Holden for 31 years. He was very involved in his community and served on the Recreation Committee in Holden for over 10 years. He was also a member of the Paxton Town Finance Committee. Christian was also proud to be a member, secretary, and historian of the Central Massachusetts Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, Chapter XXII Worcester.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his children, Allen de Marcken and his wife, Kristine of FL, Myriam Husmann and her husband, Harlan of Littleton, CO, Patricia Sullivan and her husband, Kevin of Chelmsford, MA, Diana Kent of Hudson, MA, and Christina Suchocki and her husband, Denis of Rutland; his two sisters, Anne Neil and Beatrice Miner; his grand-children, Diana Husmann and her husband, Tim Lee, Natalie Husmann, Carl Husmann and his wife, Morgan, Sean Sullivan and his wife, Kayla, Sonja Catano and her husband, Nick, Christian Kent and his wife, Josie, Michael Suchocki and his wife, Katherine, Peter Suchocki, Tyler Suchocki and his fiancé, Emy and Tim de Marcken and his partner, Skyla; his great-grandchildren, Hadley, Harper, Colin, Maximillian, Rowan, John and Charlotte. In addition to his wife of 65 years, Jeanne, he was predeceased by his brothers, Louis, Peter and Butch de Marcken; his sisters, Francoise, Myriam and Jacqueline; and his two grandsons, Eric Sullivan and Patrick Kent.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 7 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
