HOLDEN – David A. Miles, 50, of Holden, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Dave was born in Tullahoma,Tennessee and was raised in Northborough, MA, where he lived before moving to Holden in 1995.
Dave graduated from Algonquin High School in 1982 and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1986 with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a brother of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, later a Chapter Advisor. He worked many years for Raytheon Corporation and most recently as a Senior Sales Engineer for John E. Boeing Co. in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Dave was proud of his daughters and their accomplishments and immersed himself in their many activities. He coached basketball, softball and baseball in the town of Holden. He was a fan of New England sports teams and particularly enjoyed attending Red Sox games in Boston with his family. Dave was always smiling and will be remembered for his soft spoken, sweet and compassionate nature. He was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend and will be lovingly missed by those who were blessed to have known him.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Bridget H. (Hubbard) Miles; his daughters, Sarah C.(17yrs) and Elizabeth C.(15yrs) Miles of Holden; his parents, Michael and Mary “Jody” (Mahoney) Miles of Northborough; a brother, Douglas Miles and his wife Patricia of Merrimack, NH; a sister, Laura Devlin and her husband Patrick of Walpole; and eight nephews and nieces.
A memorial service celebrating Dave’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. September 30, at the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave’s name to the Holden Baseball and Softball Program, Inc., P.O. Box 117, Holden, MA 01520. Memorial arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
