David F. Moan

HOLDEN – David F. Moan, age 79, died peacefully on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brookline, David was the son of Francis and Ruth Moan.

David proudly enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and military service became his career. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant, working for many years as a Munitions Specialist. During his career he served in Vietnam and as Special Advisor to the Turkish Air Force. He received numerous medals and commendations throughout his career and retired honorably after serving more than twenty years.

David will be lovingly missed and remembered by his devoted wife of 58 years, Margaret E. Moan; his eternally grateful children, Tammie Young and her husband, Allen, Amanda Webb and her husband, James, and Andrew Moan. He was predeceased by his spirited daughter, Terri Moan in 2006. He will also be missed by his cherished grandchildren, Sophie, Chloe, Sebastian, Piper, Jasper, AJ, Libby, Nora, Andrew and Paul; five great-grandchildren and his sisters, Judi Mulry and her husband, John, Sandy Morrissette and her husband, Edward, and Carol Barnett. He shared a special bond with his sister-in-law, Susan Tamarro. He will also be missed by his former daughter-in-law, Wendy Moan.

Family and friends will gather to honor David’s memory at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 22rd at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Arrangements are in the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
