Donald A. Cox

January 16, 1963 — April 15, 2026

STERLING - Donald A. Cox, 63, passed away unexpectedly on April 15, 2026. He is the loving husband and best friend of Helen Haran with whom he has shared the past 10 years.

Born in West Boylston, Donald is the son of the late Donald and Geraldine (Nader) Cox. Donald worked for UMass Memorial hospital for over 30 years as a valued mental health counselor and clerk for the department.

A talented bass player, Donald was proud to be part of the local band "The Rails," where music brought him connection and purpose. Disciplined and dedicated, he earned a black belt in martial arts, a reflection of both his strength and perseverance. Donald found peace and adventure outdoors, especially while mountain biking, and carried that same hands-on spirit into his work as a skilled carpenter. He had a true love for cars-especially his Corvette-and could often be found tinkering under the hood with his friend Jim. He also enjoyed exploring yard sales and flea markets with his sister Cynthia, always on the lookout for a hidden gem. He will be remembered for his kindness and gentle nature by family and friends alike.

Along with his wife Helen, Donald leaves behind his sister Cynthia Norton and her husband Sean of West Boylston; his beloved dogs Sig and Titan; and many nieces and nephews, including Zachary (Mackenzie), Jonathan, and Kyle Norton; Alexandria Cox, James, Hannah, and MaryKate Flynn. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Michael Cox and Jerilynn Flynn; and dogs Tonka and Rex.
