Donald R. Labossiere

June 6, 1932 — March 5, 2013

HUBBARDSTON – Donald R. LaBossiere, 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Wachusett Manor Nursing Home in Gardner after a brief illness.

His wife of 47 years, Janice L. (Valley) LaBossiere passed away in 1999. He leaves a son, Steven R. LaBossiere and his wife Trisha of Goshen, NH; a daughter, Debra L. Lindsey and her husband Allen of Hubbardston; four grandchildren, Lenora, Timothy, Erica and Raymond; five great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane Dunton.

Donald was born in Worcester, the son of Arthur G. and Cora B. (Aldrich) LaBossiere and lived in Ft. Meade, Florida for 10 years before moving back to Hubbardston in 2009. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving as a corporal in the Marine Corps. Don was a service engineer at Heald Machine Company in Worcester for over 35 years before retiring. He was a member of the Marine Corps League Worcester detachment #144 and the Mt. Zion Lodge of Masons in Barre. He was an avid fisherman and liked to collect model trains.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Sunday, March 10, from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by a service at 2 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A committal service will be held in the spring at Brookside Cemetery in Hubbardston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veteran’s Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605, or Gardner VNA c/o Office of Development, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
