RUTLAND – Donald R. Lavoie, 75, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital after an illness. He was born in Worcester, the son of Arline (Gregoire) and Alfred Lavoie and had lived most in Worcester and Oregon before moving to Rutland 4 years ago.
He leaves his loving wife of 31 years, Edith I. (Dube) Lavoie; two sons, Donald and Scott Lavoie, both of Oregon; his step-children, Erica McNeaney of Spencer, Andrea Bednarowski of Georgia and Geoffrey Webb of Worcester; his brothers, Richard Lavoie of Northboro, Roger Lavoie of Oxford and David Lavoie of Dudley; his sister, Carol Partridge of Worcester; three grandchildren; his great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Don graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School and enlisted into the service in 1965 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a custodial supervisor for several years at the Hillsboro school district before retiring in 2014.
Don enjoyed time with his family and never found a card game he did not like but enjoyed pitch and cribbage.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 12 to 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on March 17th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A private committal service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. Please omit flowers.
