HOLDEN, MA/WEST HARTFORD, CT – Doris V. (Vialardi) D’Aquila, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14th, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. Born in Bronx, NY, she was daughter of the late Angelo and Emilia (Lanza) Vialardi.
Doris spent her early years in the US and Sandigliano, Italy, where many of Doris’ relatives still reside. Doris attended Torrington High School, where she met the love of her life, William R. D’Aquila. They married at St. Peter’s Church in Torrington, CT in 1951 and remained married until Will’s death in 2006.
Doris and Will settled in West Hartford, CT where they raised their 7 children. Although she enjoyed the challenge of employment as legal secretary, her family meant everything to her. She encouraged her children to pursue their dreams and made sure they had a strong educational foundation. The family enjoyed many years vacationing at their summer cottage in Staffordville, CT.
Throughout her life, she was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Peter’s Church in Torrington, CT, St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hartford, CT and St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson, MA.
Doris is survived and will be deeply missed by her 4 sons, Dr. Steven D’Aquila of Spencer, MA, Dr. Marc D’Aquila and his wife, Melodye of Lenoir, NC, Dr. James D’Aquila of Titusville, FL, Peter D’Aquila of Parkersburg, WV; 3 daughters, Laurel Mangan of Ellington, CT, Susan Senger of Troutdale, OR, Andrea Langhauser and her husband, Andrew, of South Dartmouth, MA; 13 grandchildren, Laurel, David, Brian, Daniel, Rebecca, K. Skye, W. Benjamin, Carolyn, Nathan, Mary, Maribeth, Michael, and Nicholas; and 4 great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Oliver, Bella, Ray; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Doris’ family from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, September 22nd, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 23rd, at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson, MA. Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
