S Pauline E. (Atkinson) Lionett

August 30, 1918 — November 2, 2007

WORCESTER/HOLDEN – Pauline E. (Atkinson) Lionett, 89, of Briarwood, C.C.R.C., Worcester and formerly of Lovell Rd., in Holden, died on Friday, November 2, 2007 in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness. She was born in Boston and lived 55 years in Holden before moving to Worcester in 2004.

Her husband of 30 years, William F. Lionett, died in 1971. She leaves her son, former State Representative, David J. Lionett and his wife Celeste of Worcester; a sister Joyce Mowatt of Toronto, Canada; two grandchildren, Daniel Lionett of Cloverdale, CA and April Lionett of Worcester; three step-grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one step-great grandchild; and many nephews and nieces. She was also a very special “Gram” to Brett Kildahl and Blair Granum of Worcester.

Mrs. Lionett graduated from Cambridge High School and Chandler College in Boston. She worked as an office administrator/manager for the Holden District Hospital, Wachusett Regional High School, and Southeastern Vocational High School in Easton, MA. She was a long-time active member of the First Baptist Church in Worcester, an active Republican who worked diligently on her son’s political campaigns, and was the President of the Women’s Republican Club of Worcester, a past volunteer at Memorial Hospital in Worcester, and for over 80 years an active member of the Girl Scouts of America. During her years in Holden she was active in town politics, the Holden Recreational Committee, Little League, various Holden Hospital Committee’s, and the March of Dimes.

Pauline was born a child of the depression. She was a die-hard Red Sox fan, who proudly shared the same birth date as Ted Williams. She had a strong sense of faith, was courageous, and always made the best of things. She had a quick smile, a great sense of humor, and made many friends wherever she went.

A memorial service for Pauline will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10th in the First Baptist Church of Worcester, 111 Park Avenue, Worcester. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Worcester, Endowment Fund, 111 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA 01609, or to ALS Foundation, Mass. Chapter, 75 McNeil Way, Dedham, MA 02026. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden is directing arrangements.
