HOLDEN – Edith C. (Stockwell) Hooper, 98, of 31A Flagler Drive, formerly of 31 Highland Avenue, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, in Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Nursing Home, Worcester, after an illness.
Her husband of 47 years, Leslie J. Hooper, died in 1977. She leaves four sons, Donald L. Hooper of Pauling, New York, William R. Hooper of Delaware, Maryland, Lee M. Hooper of Munson, Maine, and Neal C. Hooper of Princeton; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew. A brother, Laurence Stockwell, predeceased her.
Mrs. Hooper was born in West Millbury, daughter of Robert J. and Minnie L. (Fletcher) Stockwell, and graduated Millbury High School. She had lived in Holden for 56 years. She worked for Westend Thread Mill in Millbury many years ago. She was a member and of the First Congregational Church of Holden, former member of the Holden Women’s Club, the Garden Club and enjoyed all aspects of gardening.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hooper will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, in the First Congregational Church, 1180 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in West Millbury Cemetery, South Oxford Road, Millbury. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
