PRINCETON - Edward "Ted" F. Butler, 71, of 45 Gregory Rd, Princeton passed away peacefully after extended illness on Monday September 26th. Edward was born in Holden on October 6, 1944 the son of the late Patrick J. and Evelyn (Crossly) Butler. He lived all of his life in Holden and Princeton. His wife of 43 years, Leslie (Coonley) Butler predeceased him. He is survived by his sons; Bryce and his wife, Diana of Elmira, NY and Erin and his wife, Maria Lucia of Grafton; four beloved grandchildren, Anthony, Chelsea, Benjamin and Marcus; his sister, Bette and her husband, Rick Ek of Horseheads, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He attended the Holden school system and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1963. He attended Quinsigamond College in the School of Industrial Engineering. Edward was employed by the Mass Department of Environmental Management; his final positional was Regional Operational Director after 35 years of dedicated service. He also served the Princeton Police Department for 28yrs and retired as a sergeant. Other professional appointments included the state purchasing board, the Worcester Red Cross aquatic review board and the ISO 14000 program member for DCR. Edward enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating, fishing and camping. His sons were both in scouting and Edward enjoyed joining them in activities. Other places which Edward favored included Maine and Ireland.
