Edward 'Ted' G. Migdelany

Biography

HOLDEN/WEST BOYLSTON – Edward “Ted” G. Migdelany, Jr., formerly of Holden, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving wife and family on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Born and raised in Holden, Ted was the son of Edward “Stretch” G. and Lillian M. (Fowler) Migdelany and lived most of his life in Holden until moving to West Boylston in 2013. He was a 1958 graduate of Wachusett Regional High School in Holden. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air National Guard from 1961 to 1965. During the Berlin Crisis in 1961, the 101st Division was activated and he was deployed to Europe.

Ted worked over 40 years at his family business, Holden Sand and Gravel Co. He started his career working with his dad at the age of 11 and became a seasoned mechanic before graduating high school. Ted served as the company’s president for many years retiring in 2004. Ted along with his brother John, owned and operated Holden Sand and Gravel, Holden Bus Company, Holden Storage, M & M Realty and part owners of the former Bogeys Restaurant at Holden Hills CC.

He was an avid golfer and was a member of The Vineyards in Naples and a former longtime member of Worcester Country Club. He most recently enjoyed playing golf with his friends at Wachusett Country Club in West Boylston. One of Ted’s favorite hobbies was buying and restoring collectable cars including his favorite, a 1974 red Delta Royale convertible. His other interests included boating, playing pool and cards and having coffee in the morning with his buddies at Goodhile’s in Holden. Ted made friends where ever he went and will be remembered fondly by those who were honored to have known him. He enjoyed the company of others and will be remembered as a kind and giving man with a true zest for life.


He leaves his beloved wife of 20 years, Maureen C. (Laconte) Migdelany; his two sons, Todd Migdelany and his wife, Karen of Jefferson and Eric Migdelany of Wareham; two stepdaughters, Erin CampoBasso and her husband, Andrew of Holden and Kimberly Tobler and her husband, Jeff of Los Angeles, California; his brother, John R. Migdelany and his wife, Gerry of Holden; two sisters, Jeanne Askins of Key Largo, Florida and Terresa Ann Migdelany of Holden; four grandchildren, Drew, Chloe and Callie CampoBasso and Emma Tobler. Besides his parents, Ted is predeceased by a sister, Freda Migdelany and his former wife Barbara Migdelany.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ted’s family from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, September 29, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, September 30, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ted’s name to the Massachusetts General Hospital (in support of lung cancer research).
