Sterling/Hubbardston - Edward Andrew "Andy" Landini, beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, and friend, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on July 15th, just after his 84th birthday. He leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and kindness.
Andy grew up in Littleton, Massachusetts, son of Andrew and Sylvia Landini, with sisters, Mary Doyle and Jane Karlson. He graduated from Littleton High School in 1960 before earning his degree from Springfield College in 1964. Soon after graduating, he began a career teaching physical education in the Worcester Public Schools. Over three decades, his time included St. Nicholas Avenue Community School, Doherty High School, and his favorite project with the Worcester Mini Olympics. Andy loved teaching and the countless students whose lives he touched.
On February 19, 1966, Andy married the love of his life, Ellen. Together they built a beautiful life and raised their family in Sterling, where Andy became a familiar face on the Little League fields and in neighborhood wiffle ball games.
Andy and Ellen later enjoyed their retirement on Cape Cod, spending countless peaceful days together. When Ellen courageously battled Alzheimer's disease, Andy cared for her with unwavering love, patience, and devotion. After her passing, Andy moved to Hubbardston to be surrounded by family, where he cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved most.
Andy is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Landini) Williams and her husband, Timothy Williams; their children, Carly Williams and her boyfriend, Collin, and Matthew Williams and his wife, Abigail. He is also survived by his son, Jay Landini and his wife, Stacy, and their son, Cole Landini.
To his grandchildren, he was simply "Peepee," a nickname that became a title of love. To most others, he was Andy or Ed, though he often joked that he didn't care what people called him, "as long as they called him." His quick wit, endless collection of "Peepeeisms," and infectious sense of humor could brighten any room.
Andy found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved sitting in the sunshine, cheering on his beloved Boston sports teams, playing chess, enjoying games of pitch with family and poker with friends, and hitting the ski slopes. He treasured traveling with Ellen and their family, making memories in places like Italy, Ireland, Aruba and Bermuda. A lifelong dog lover, Andy owned many Newfoundlands and, later in life, adored his "wonderful dogs.”
Andy believed deeply in treating others with kindness. He was known for tipping generously, giving back to charities close to his heart—including the Alzheimer's Association , St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the ASPCA, and many others—and quietly helping people whenever he could. His generosity, compassion, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Although his family will miss him beyond words, they find comfort in knowing that Andy is once again holding hands with Ellen, reunited with the love of his life.
Memorial calling hours will be held at Miles-Sterling Funeral Home & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling, MA from 4-6pm on Thursday, July 30th. All are welcome to celebrate following a short service at the funeral home.
