HOLDEN – M. Elizabeth "Betty" (Giblin) Lindstrom, 87, formerly of Woodland Road, Holden, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 in Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester.
Her husband of 42 years, Carl E. Lindstrom, died in 1995. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Thomas J. and Hilda (Tanner) Giblin Burt, and had lived in Holden since 1953. She graduated North High School and Feener Secretarial School. She leaves her step-brother, Arthur L. Burt of Florida; a nephew, Dr. John Hammond of North Carolina; two nieces, Elizabeth Singleton of Colorado and Betty Boisvert of Murfeesboro, TN; a grandnephew and 3 grandnieces; great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces.
Betty was a member of St. Mary's Church in Jefferson where she was a member of the Women's Guild, taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and was a Eucharistic Minister. For many years she was a volunteer at Assumption College and at Holden District Hospital. She was past member of the Holden Women's Club, Worcester Women's Club, Worcester Country Club, Science Center and Art Museum. She served on the Board of Directors at Girls, Inc. of Worcester, the Worcester Art Memorial Foundation for the Blind, and "Meet the Father Ministry".
The family wishes to thank the staff at Notre Dame du Lac's Harmony Unit and Long Term Care Center with special gratitude for Nurse Practitioner Alice Bonner's remarkable compassion and care.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 24th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Betty will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1326 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Mary's Church Memorial Fund (or Building Fund), P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522-0190.
