Ella S. (Simpson) Leadbetter

June 15, 1917 — March 20, 2017

PAXTON – Ella S. (Simpson) Leadbetter, 99, died peacefully at home on Monday, March 20, 2017.  A long time Paxton resident, Ella was born in Boston, the daughter of Scottish Immigrants, Emily (Gordon) and Norman Simpson.            Ella graduated from Roslindale High School, where she met her future husband, Raymond Leadbetter.  She went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts from Simmons College.  She and Raymond settled in Paxton in 1950 and ingratiated themselves in the community.  Ella worked as a Physician's Assistant both in Private Medical Practices and at Rutland Heights State Hospital, retiring in 1985.  She and Raymond were long time members of the First Congregational Church of Paxton.               Ella's husband of over 56 years, Raymond Leadbetter, passed away in 1998.  She is lovingly remembered by her son, Raymond Leadbetter Jr. and his wife, Monica of Arizona; her daughter, Ann Roche and her husband, John of California; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her brother, Norman Simpson.            A memorial service honoring and celebrating Ella's life will be held in the Spring of 2017 at the First Congregational Church of Paxton, 1 Church St., Paxton.  Burial will be private at Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, 25 Evans Way, Boston, MA , the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, or to the First Congregational Church of Paxton.
