Biography
RUTLAND – Ellen “Mary” (O’Shea) Butkiewicz, 90, of Rutland, passed away peacefully under the loving care of her family and the staff at Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Born and raised in Worcester, Mary was the daughter of John M. and Ellen M. (Falt) O’Shea and lived over 60 years in Rutland. Her beloved husband of 26 years, Edmund J. Butkiewicz died in 1976. She will be affectionately missed and remembered by her two sons, Edmund J. Butkiewicz, Jr. and his wife, Anne of Rutland and Paul W. Butkiewicz and his wife, Kathy of Rutland; her sister, Nora O’Shea of Rutland; four grandchildren, Jonathan Rexford, Justin, Jamie and Marc Butkiewicz. Besides her husband, Mary is predeceased by her son, John M. Butkiewicz and her brother, Victor Racine. Mary attended Worcester schools and retired after working for many years at Rutland Heights Hospital. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick’s Church in Rutland and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Mary will be remembered for her gentle and kind nature. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mary’s family from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, January 29, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, January 30, at St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main St., Rutland. Please omit flowers.
