WORCESTER – Elsie T. Norgren Stevenson passed away on August 31, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her children, Donald A. Norgren and his wife, Gabrielle of Worcester and Pamela Steinberg and her husband, Jay of Worcester; her grandchildren, Natasha Norgren, Joshua Steinberg and his wife, Katrina, Ariana Norgren, Vanessa Van Someren and her husband, Nick and Jacqueline Diiulio and her husband, Tim; great-grandchildren, Lily, Hannah, Sophie, Brynn, Aria, Lewis, Miles, Jessie and Jacoby; nephews, Jeffrey Prokopowicz and Craig Brickey and nieces, Carol Jean Banach and her husband, Paul and Charlene Hintermeyer and her husband, Mike. In addition to her husband, Donald E. Norgren, she is predeceased by her two sisters, Evelyn Prokopowicz and Mary Hagerstrand.
Elsie was born on January 2, 1931, in Worcester, the daughter of Yvonne (Allard) and Albert Olson. She attended Commerce High School before marrying her beloved Donald and moved to Leicester where they raised their two children. When her children were grown, Elsie began working at the legendary dinner theater, Caesar’s Monticello, where she enjoyed meeting celebrities such as Louis Armstrong and Phyllis Diller. She later returned to Worcester and worked at Liberty Mutual until her retirement. In more recent years, Elsie enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching old movies and going shopping, her favorite pastime.
Elsie was a woman of style and panache. An avid seamstress and crafter, she used her talents to add beauty and whimsy to her surroundings, from hand sewing Barbie clothes to designing beautiful gift packages. Most recently, she enjoyed creating decoupaged mirrors with her daughter. A lady who wore hot pink, leopard print and bejeweled outfits well into her 90’s, Elsie was truly one of a kind.
Elsie’s family would like to thank the wonderful people of JHC Hospice for helping to provide comfort and support in her final days.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 19 at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
