JEFFERSON – Erick G. Andrews, 80, beloved husband of Mary E. (Woods) Andrews, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital. Born in Morgantown, WV and raised in Scituate, MA, he was the son of the late Mary (Bosley) Andrews McLaughlin and John F. McLaughlin.
Erick was a graduate of Scituate High School, Class of 1963 where he was active in Science Fair projects. He went on to further his education at Northeastern University as an engineering student. He also enjoyed taking various courses at various Boston colleges out of curiosity. He pursued a career in the computer field well before a degree in Computer Science was established.
He began his engineering career in 1967 with Singer Business Machines in Boston, then joined Sierra Research Corporation in 1972, relocating to Phoenix, AZ and Buffalo, NY. In 1977, he moved to Digital Equipment Corporation back in Maynard, MA, quickly becoming the go‑to problem solver. In the 1980s, he was sent to England to help build and expand the company’s Engineering Department in the UK.
Above all else, family was most important to Erick. He was always so proud of his daughters’ accomplishments and his grandchildren’s achievements.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 58 years, Mary; his daughters, Monica Lane and her husband, Tyler of Uxbridge and Rebecca Matthews and her husband, Sean of Ayer; his grandchildren, Ethan Matthews, Nicole Matthews and Abigail Lane; his brother, Robert McLaughlin and his wife, Marcia of Pinkney, MI; and his two sisters, Deborah McKesson and her husband, Warren of Melbourne, FL and Marsha McLaughlin of Herndon, VA.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, June 26 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in Scituate. www.milesfuneralhome.com
