STERLING – Erin E. (Hegarty) Pasquale of Sterling passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 16, 2017, after a fierce battle with MSA (Multiple Systems Atrophy). She was 48. Born in Plymouth and raised in Middleboro, Erin was the daughter of the late Hugh and Winifred Marie (O’Brien) Hegarty and lived in Somerville and Plymouth before moving to Sterling in 2007.
She will be affectionately remembered and missed by her husband, Jeffery F. Pasquale; her son, Nicolas L. Pasquale; a brother, Michael G. Hegarty of Plymouth; a sister, Julie Leo and her husband, Rick of Middleboro; nephews and nieces including Jack and Domenic Leo and Amanda and Jack Pasquale.
Erin was a graduate of Middleboro High School and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a Bachelor’s Degree in biology. She worked over 20 years in bio-research which including 15 years at Biogen and the last 7 years at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, both in Cambridge. While working at Biogen, Erin was the lead vocalist in the company’s band named, “Biogen Blues Band.” She took on her dad’s passion of boating and bought a boat which she kept at Plymouth Harbor by the name of “Almost Siobhan.” She felt most at home by the sea and vacationed as often as she could at her home on Martha’s Vineyard. She will be remembered for her spirited and tenacious nature.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Erin’s family from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd. (Rte. 12), Sterling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20, at St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling. Spring interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling.
