RUTLAND – Esther A. (Larson) Wood, 90, of Highland Park Road, died peacefully at UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus in Worcester, on Friday, April 6, 2012. Her loving husband of 46 years, James L. Wood, predeceased her in December of 2011.
Mrs. Wood was born in Amesbury on February 18, 1922, the daughter of Herman and Christina (Hjort) Larson and lived in Holden and Worcester before moving to Rutland in 1966. She graduated from Holden High School and worked as a mixer for diamond products at Norton Company in Worcester for 40 years. Mrs. Wood was a member of the Greendale People’s Community Church in Worcester.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her son, Lawrence Wood and his wife Debra of Worcester; three grandchildren, David Wood, Katelyn Wood and Nicole Burns; and two great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Nolan Burns. She is predeceased by her brother, Paul Larson and sister, Agnes Rogers.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a memorial service honoring Mrs. Wood’s life at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden.
